Summary

The Behavior Interventionist is responsible for providing early intervention services for behavioral difficulties. The Behavioral Interventionist will be a member of the Special Instruction Staff and the School Wide Support Team and will assist with program development including procedures to facilitate data based decision-making. Position Summary:  

The Behavior Interventionist is responsible for providing early intervention services for behavioral difficulties. The Behavioral Interventionist will be a member of the Special Instruction Staff and the School Wide Support Team and will assist with program development including procedures to facilitate data based decision-making.  The Behavioral Interventionist will also support school-wide efforts to develop and implement a social emotional curriculum K-8.

 

Job Duties:

  • Assist in the development of district behavior systems. 

  • Facilitate the practice of data based decision making in team problem solving for students with behavioral difficulties.

  • Collect and use benchmark data to identify and serve students with behavioral Difficulties.

  • Consult with teachers to provide ideas and materials to facilitate high quality, evidence based tier 1 interventions for students with behavioral difficulties 

  • Maintain appropriate records and reports.  Collect and maintain data on direct service activities with students in accordance with the requirements of the Minnesota Department of Education, maintain parent permission files, maintain student progress data files

  • Develop and deliver interventions for behavior following evidence-based practices including creating and facilitating social skills groups and individual counseling sessions with those students

  • Participate in the building Student Support Team, School Wide Support Team, Paraprofessional meetings and staff meetings

  • Communicate effectively with students, families, educators, and administrators regarding student interventions and progress.

  • Create and maintain a professional working relationship with families and staff.

  • Provide professional development training for faculty and staff as directed by administration

  • Participate in school-wide social emotional curriculum development.

  • Other duties as assigned.

 Required Qualifications:  

  • Commitment to TCGIS’s mission, vision, values & strategic goals.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in subject area.

  • Valid Minnesota teaching license in applicable grade level and subject area (and/or a commitment to work with TCGIS and the State Board of Teaching to receive licensure)

  • Ability to communicate in a positive and responsive way that is consistently welcoming and enhances effective work relationships.

  • Knowledge of evidence based interventions for emotional and/or behavioral difficulties of students K-8

  • Eligible to work in the United States

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Master’s Degree in subject area.

  • Experience with Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS)

  • Experience with objective measurement of behavioral symptoms

  • German language ability preferred

 

Working Conditions:

  • Physical Ability: Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or workstation.

  • Sensory Requirements: Some tasks require visual perception and discrimination. 

  • Some tasks require oral communications ability.

 

Working Hours:

Regular hours for full-time employees are 7:30am – 3:30pm Monday through Friday. Special Instruction Staff have one full week off for a fall break, two full weeks off for a winter break, and one full week off for a spring break, along with other federally-recognized holidays. 

 

Salary/Benefits:

Salary will commensurate with experience and our Collective Bargaining Agreement. Special Instruction Staff who regularly work 30 hours per week are eligible for insurance benefits including medical and dental insurance (premiums paid at 90% by employer), long-term life & disability insurance (premiums paid at 100% by employer).
