Dates: Monday – Thursday; July 10 – July 17; 12 days total
Hours of Work:  Monday – Thursday; 8:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.; students from 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
Salary:  Teachers employed for ESY will be paid as per their individual contracts or $40/hr, whichever is the greater amount.

Job Summary: 
These positions will be responsible for teaching four half days per week in a self-contained classroom.  These positions will serve groups of students between 3 and 21 years old who are eligible for Extended School Year services.  Responsibilities will include planning the curriculum and leading the class along with a Speech Language Pathologist who will be in the classroom for a portion of the class for those students who may require speech language services over the summer program.

Special Education Teacher Requirements:
In addition to licensure, qualified applicants will have experience implementing special education interventions for students with moderate to severe disabilities; ability to work collaboratively with a team.  The ability to provide specialized instruction; to use current techniques in teaching reading, math, written language and functional skills; provide a structured behavior management system to resolve behavior issues in the classroom; desire and ability to work cooperatively with team members; a preparation and commitment to work in effectively with students from diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds; demonstrated classroom management skills; openness and availability to students; demonstrated teaching effectiveness; assessment/diagnostic skills, willingness to work on a multi-disciplinary team.  Special Education licensure required.

Speech Language Pathologist Requirements:
The speech language pathologist will be responsible for providing direct therapy; collaboration with other special education staff; consultation to special education teachers; writing and carrying out ESY IEP goals/objectives.

Master in Communication Disorders and Certificate of Clinical Competence.  Also, qualified applicants will have 1) experience and implementation of IEP’s; 2) familiarity with augmentative communications systems; 3) experience in providing consultation for multi-disciplinary teams and paraprofessionals.

School Nurse Requirements:
The Licensed School Nurse (LSN) is responsible for the management of the school-based health program for students attending ESY.  The LSN will facilitate the District’s compliance with mandatory responsibilities related to health.
