East Grand Forks School District is seeking applicants for Short Call Substitute Teachers

East Grand Forks, MN is a city with a population of approximately 8,500 and located in the heart of the Red River Valley in Northwest Minnesota. It borders Grand Forks, ND and is very close to the University of North Dakota and Northland Community and Technical College. The district’s K-12 enrollment is approximately 1900 students as well as a thriving preschool program. The district has four separate school buildings housing grades K-2, 3-5, 6-8 and 9-12.

Terms:
Compensation – $145/day
Any teacher retiree of the ISD #595 – $165/day

Qualifications:
Either

1. Hold a current and valid Minnesota Teaching license; 
         
Or,
 
2. Hold a valid Short Call Substitute license issued by the Minnesota Department of Education, available to applicants who have a bachelor’s degree in a field other than education.

Basic Function of the Position:
The primary responsibility of the position would be to lead the classroom in the absences of the licensed teacher using their sub notes.
1. Facilitating learning by delivering lesson plans/instructions left by the absent teacher.
2. Maintaining a positive and productive learning environment by managing student behavior, enforcing classroom rules and addressing any disruptions that arise.
3. Providing assistance and support to students with their assignments, projects, and activities as needed. Substitute teachers may answer questions, offer guidance, and provide clarification on lesson content.
4. Monitoring students during classroom activities, transitions, and breaks to ensure their safety and well-being. 
5. Being prepared to adapt to unforeseen circumstances that may require flexibility in lesson delivery or instructional strategies.
6. Providing feedback to the regular teacher or school administration regarding the day’s activities, student behavior, and any notable incidents or concerns that occurred during the substitute assignment.
7. Leaving notes or reports for the regular teacher summarizing the day’s activities.
