Student Support Personnel Job Description
Licensure areas: School Psychologist or School Counselor (preferred), School Social Worker (considered)

Job Summary:
 The Certified Student Support Personnel will implement an intensive instruction model forsocial and emotional learning.
 The Certified Student Support Personnel is responsible for planning instruction andadaptation of the social and emotional education curriculum to accommodate students in the
learning process.
 The Certified Student Support Personnel will support students in a crisis situation and assist
the team in developing interventions and strategies to address student needs.
 The Certified student Support Personnel will work with and support students’
parents/guardians as needs arise.
 It is the expectation that each duty will be performed effectively throughout the school year

Essential Duties:
 Implement district guidance curricula as assigned;
 Guide individuals and groups of students through the development of educational, personal,
social and career plans;
 Counsel individuals and small groups of students toward social and emotional growth;
 Consult with and train teachers, parents, and staff regarding children’s needs;
 Refer children/parents with to special programs, specialists, and outside agencies as
appropriate;
 Participate in, coordinate, and conduct activities that contribute to the effective operation of
the counseling program and school;
 Participate in and facilitate special education processes as assigned (observations,
evaluations, functional behavioral assessments, etc.);
 Plan and evaluate the social-emotional and counseling programming;
 Collaborate with members of the NLA K-12 Certified team.
 Provide additional student supports as assigned
 Participate in building level meetings as directed by the building principal
 Participate in special education meetings as directed by the special education supervisor and
collaborate with all staff involved with the students
 Log and maintain monthly MA billing paperwork
 Fulfill district and state professional development requirements
 Comply with Master Agreement between the Cloquet Board of Education and Ed MN
 Participate in Child Study Team
 Participate in implementation of positive behavior support plans
 Supervise, train and guide paraprofessionals
 Other duties as assigned by special education supervisor and building administration

PREPARATION, TRAINING, EDUCATION, AND EXPERIENCES:
 Licensure in Minnesota as a school psychologist or school counselor (preferred) or school social
worker (considered)
 Must be knowledgeable of State Standards and strategies to meet the academic, developmental , and
functional needs of students
 Competency in the administration and interpretation of ability and achievement testing
 Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, peers, parents, and
community
 Ability to communicate clearly and concisely (oral and written)
 Certification in CPI (or willing to get and maintain yearly) and ability to use the principles within the
CPI curriculum as well as District Restrictive Procedures and Policies
