Social Studies Teacher – Pipestone Area High School
 
JOB DESCRIPTION
Pipestone Area School District #2689 is seeking a Social Studies Teacher. Teachers at Pipestone Area Schools are assigned specific duties within their teaching content area. This includes teaching appropriate Minnesota Academic Standards-based content, contributing to a team based approach, and participating in staff professional development sessions and other meetings. Pedagogically, best practices are encouraged and innovation expected. 
 
QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Hold or be eligible to obtain a Minnesota teaching certificate with appropriate endorsement
  • Possess a high level of organizational and communication skills
  • Knowledgeable computer user; familiarity with Student Information Systems
  • Solid classroom management skills based on current research practices
  • Willingness to be involved in other aspects of the Pipestone Area Schools culture and community
  • Team Player and team-oriented thinker

 
RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Deliver high quality Minnesota Academic Standards-based lessons to High School students in History/Psychology/Sociology.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to carry out Multi-tiered System of Supports.
  • Maintain accurate records of students’ grades and attendance.
  • Participate fully in mentoring and instructional coaching programs, align and deepen curriculum, and improve pedagogy.
  • Practice and carry out rules and procedures as defined by the Pipestone Area School District. 
  • Participate in staff in-service, staff meetings, department work, committee work, parent conference nights, etc.
  • Support the Principal with supervision of students.
  • Communicate in a positive way to develop rapport with learners and treat them with respect.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to the school’s mission of Inspire life-long learners. Build Character, and Prepare them for their Future.

 
SUPERVISION:
Teachers report to the building principal.

Opportunities for extra-curricular activities may be available and posted on the District website.
 
COMPENSATION:
Certified Staff are compensated according to the current master agreement.
