Responsibilities: The school psychologist provides services that assist parents and professionals in meeting the educational, social/emotional/behavioral, and mental health needs of children and youth.   As a member of the educational team, the school psychologist is an advocate for children and supports students in achieving educational goals and encouraging independence in the least restrictive environment.  The psychologist is expected to work collaboratively and problem-solve with team members in recommending and designing educational programs.  
 
Qualifications: Degree in School Psychology and Minnesota State Licensure as a school psychologist, with three years of experience in the direct school psychology services preferred.  Must be proficient in educational assessment of learning and behavior and have an awareness of the impact of mental health conditions on the student’s functioning in the educational environment.  Must be willing to engage students at all ages and with all ability levels.  Must be willing to use the Response to Intervention / Multi-Tiered System of Support Model in designing interventions that are valid and that can be delivered with fidelity.  Must have understanding of special education principles; demonstrate ethical standards relating to confidentiality rights of students; show evidence of being able to work in school and home-based cultures and environments; exhibit an understanding of MN due process requirements; and have knowledge of applicable local, state and federal laws, rules and regulations.
