Position Summary:
Program Assistants work with Site Supervisor to facilitate a stimulating and developmentally appropriate environment which promotes social growth, enhances self-esteem, provides for mastery of tasks, and develops self-reliance in a child. Orientation and professional development hours available once placement is confirmed. This assignment works the typical school year calendar, reporting to work everyday that school is in session between now and end of the academic calndar. This assignment does not include a summer assignment; however school year staff are encouraged to apply for the summer seasonal positions.  Two 2.5 hour/day positions are available at Lincoln and Washington Elementary. 

Requirements:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); proficiency in the English language; successful work experience with children.  Read, write, and comprehend instructions, short correspondences, and memos.  Mobility and ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to ten pounds.  Hearing, speech, and sight are required. Current first aid and CPR certificate, or willingness to obtain within first ten-weeks of employment. Experience in center-based child care settings and developmentally appropriate curriculum experience with school-age children required. Applicants must be available to work on all days students are in school.  On days that students remain on site longer, or depart early, applicants will need schedule flexibility to have their assignment adjusted in 15-minute increments to ensure quality and efficient care is available to students and their families. Consistent and reliable attendance is required.

Other Skills and Abilities:
Ability to build quality relationships with children, parents and staff. Provide a variety of suggestions in working with students in the School Age Care setting. Maintain cooperative staff partnerships; display flexibility in day-to-day situations and relationships; contribute to a positive team environment. Maintain the confidentiality of all information regarding students. Perform duties within a structured daily schedule and with an awareness of all program standard operating practices, district requirements and Board of Education policies. 

Schedule:

  • 2.5 hours per day available / 2:15 PM – 4:45 PM / 5 days per week during student academic calendar.
  • Daily work schedules will be adjusted in 15-minute increments based on attendance and temperament of participating children.
  • Additional hours available for subbing occassionally available in the morning SAC program, or during the academic day as a Classroom EA

Pay Rate:
A -1-3 / $15.67-18.91 per hour – *Contingent on experience in child-care settings.
