Compensation:
Salary schedule based on Teacher contract, previous teaching experience and education.

License Requirement: Occupational Therapist licensed throught the Minnesota Department of Health

Position Summary:
Perform intermediate advanced human support work special needs of students, designing and implementing appropriate therapies, preparing and maintaining appropriate records, and related work as apparent or assigned.
 
Primary Job Functions:

  1. Provide direct and indirect Occupational Therapy (OT) to identified students in home or schools.
  2. Train special and general education staff, parent and other team members on specific interventions.
  3. Recommend and train staff, parents and/or students on equipment; observes student in various educational environments and provides recommendations; adapts and/or modifies materials.
  4. Implement educational plans as describe on individual IEP/IIIP/IFSP and provide information for building staff as needed.
  5. Maintain appropriate records and reports.  Collect data on progress on goals and objectives for each student and meet all required timelines.
  6. Communicate effectively with students, families, educators, and administrators regarding student programs and progress.
  7. Work cooperatively with general education teachers and staff and provide building consultation, support and training as needed.
  8. Create and maintain a professional working relationship with families and staff.
  9. Conduct assessments, comprehensive report results, and follow Minnesota state criteria in area(s) of special education eligibility as well as mandated timelines.
  10. Determine and complete purchase orders for supplies, materials, and equipment based on student needs.
  11. Participate in building and District level professional development activities.
  12. Perform all other duties and responsibilities in certification areas as directed by the Director of Special Services and/or the Building Principal.
  13. Measure and document therapy outcomes and attendance.
  14. Collaborate with district motor team to share best practices and new therapy initiatives.
  15. Adhere to federal and state statute and rules related to individualized service and due process.
  16. Other duties as assigned.

 
Job Specifications (Education, License, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities):
 Required:

  1. Minnesota Department of Health Occupational Therapy License.
  2. National Board of Health Occupational Therapy Certification.
  3. Ability to travel between sites as needed.
  4. Ability to perform routine computer functions, including the use of email, Microsoft Word and due process system.
  5. Prompt, regular and reliable attendance
  6. Communicates with students, parents, co-workers, supervisors, and the community in a positive and responsive way that is consistently welcoming and enhances effective work relationships.
  7. Demonstrates an appreciation of diversity in all interactions and job functions.
