Job Title: Middle School Special Education Teacher (EBD/ASD Preferred)
Location:Â Watertown Mayer Pulbic School District, Watertown, MN
Job Summary: The Middle School Special Education Teacher will be responsible for providing specialized instruction and support to students with diverse learning needs in a middle school setting. Candidates with licenses or certifications in Emotional/Behavioral Disorders (EBD) or Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) are preferred.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students with disabilities, with a focus on meeting academic, social, emotional, and behavioral goals.
- Provide differentiated instruction and accommodations to support the diverse learning needs of students with disabilities in inclusive and resource settings.
- Collaborate with general education teachers, related service providers, and other members of the multidisciplinary team to ensure coordinated support for students with disabilities.
- Assess student progress regularly and adjust instructional strategies and interventions accordingly.
- Implement evidence-based interventions and behavioral supports to address challenging behaviors and promote positive social interactions.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of student progress, including IEP goals, progress reports, and behavior intervention plans.
- Communicate effectively with parents/guardians regarding student progress, goals, and strategies for support.
- Participate in professional development activities to stay abreast of best practices in special education and evidence-based interventions for students with disabilities.
- Adhere to all state and federal regulations governing special education services and maintain compliance with Individualized Education Program (IEP) requirements.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Special Education Coordinator or building administration.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Valid teaching license or certification in Special Education with endorsements in Emotional/Behavioral Disorders (EBD) or Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) preferred.
- Experience working with middle school-aged students with disabilities, particularly those with emotional/behavioral challenges or autism spectrum disorders.
- Strong understanding of evidence-based practices in special education and familiarity with behavioral interventions and supports.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, students, and families.
- Demonstrated ability to differentiate instruction and provide accommodations to meet the diverse learning needs of students with disabilities.
