High School Strength Coach Summer Internship Job description:

Unpaid internship program at Mound Westonka High School for any aspiring strength and conditioning professional. The Strength and Conditioning intern is responsible for acquiring the ability to administer and supervise all sports programs under the direction of the Head Strength Coach with the three major goals of improving athletic performance, reducing athletic injuries, and teaching lifelong fitness and movement skills. The Strength and Conditioning intern is responsible for maintaining the strength and conditioning facility, and uphold the policies, plans, and procedures for the safe and professional operation of the facility. The Strength and Conditioning intern will learn and develop the necessary skills it takes to independently administer safe and appropriate strength, speed, and conditioning programs.
Qualifications:

  1. BS/MS or currently working toward a degree in Kinesiology or related field.
  2. Working towards a professional certification credentialed by an independent accreditation agency— for example, the NSCA Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist® (CSCS®) certification.
  3. Intern’s will have to pass a background check with Westonka School District before working with students.
  4. Preferred but not Required current standard first aid, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), and automated external defibrillation (AED) certifications.
  5. A strong working knowledge and teaching skills in analysis and techniques of strength training.
  6. Strong motivational abilities.
  7. Evidence of ability to interact positively with student athletes, colleagues, and the public.
  8. Evidence of strong organizational skills and effective oral and written communication skills.
