TITLE: Spanish Teacher

SALARY & BENEFITS: Based on current teacher contract

QUALIFICATIONS: Must hold a current teacher license in the assigned area or be able and willing to obtain one prior to the start of the assignment

DIRECT SUPERVISOR: Building Principal

CONTRACT DAYS & HOURS: 185 days from mid-August through mid-June as dictated by the annual school calendar. On student contact days, building hours for this position are 10:15am – 3:30pm. Hours may be occasionally changed or extended to help fulfill professional duties such as conferences. Additional time outside of the building will be needed to successfully complete duties and responsibilities listed below.

CLASS ASSIGNMENT: This position will teach three sections of Spanish 1 as well as having an assigned supervisory duty during the day.

 

TYPICAL JOB DUTIES: 

  1. Develop innovative lesson plans that encourage engagement and promote learning

  2. Conduct classroom instruction in a way that helps each and every student learn

  3. Evaluates student learning through both formative and summative methods

  4. Reflects on the instructional practices and techniques used to help refine teaching techniques

  5. Regularly communicates with parents/guardians about academic progress and behavior to help promote a cooperative approach to helping students grow

  6. Regularly monitors student progress and adjusts instruction to meet the individual needs

  7. Collaborates with department members and other colleagues to help improve both the student experience and instructional techniques

  8. Participates in building wide activities to help promote a positive culture for both students and staff

 

PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Helps students learn all appropriate state standards for their subject area as defined by the district approved curriculum

  2. Responsible for creating instructional activities and lesson plans for all student days, including when the staff member is absent

  3. Modify lessons and activities, with the help of special education staff, to meet the needs of all students with IEPs

  4. Assess student learning and performance on a regular basis, providing feedback to both the student and their parent/guardian through our online portal

  5. Available outside of the school day to meet with colleges, administrators, students, and parents when required or requested to fulfill other job duties

  6. Maintain accurate and complete records regarding grades, attendance, progress, and behavior for students

  7. Is knowledgeable of and actively works to uphold and enforce school board policies, administrative procedures, and school rules

  8. Regularly checks email and other methods of correspondence to ensure knowledge is up to date and the lines of communication remain open

  9. Attend additional trainings, both in building and out, as needed to stay up to date and current on instructional best practices, behavior management techniques, and content specific items

  10. Regularly demonstrate a growth mindset for both students and staff

  11. Take creative risks to help students learn more effectively

  12. Maintain a positive and professional approach when interacting with students, parents, community, and other staff
