Description:  Early Learning is a program of Community Education, offers families with children, birth through prekindergarten, a variety of programs and services including, but not limited to,  Early Childhood Family Education (ECFE) and Tiger Preschool (School Readiness). This position is responsible for developing, promoting, implementing, managing, and evaluating early childhood education programs for the Farmington Area Schools

This is a full-time, year-round position scheduled 240 days a year. Flexible working hours at a variety of locations.
 

Essential functions of the job may include but are not limited to the following:

  • Responsible for Program Development with guidance from the Director of Community Education and the districts strategic framework.
  • Develops Relationships (liaison among all stakeholders – community partners, district, k-3, families, staff).
  • Responsible for hiring, developing, evaluating and assigning licensed and non-licensed employees of the programs.
  • Oversees curriculum, instructional resources and assessments for ECFE and Tiger School School .
  • Provides training and professional development opportunities for the Early Learning department employees.
  • Knowledge and experience with corrective feedback and action
  • Facilitates and manages the development of shared beliefs, knowledge, and practice within and across early childhood programs.
  • Establishes program guidelines and operational procedures.
  • Plans for programming decisions within calendar, budget, staffing, marketing and registration timelines.
  • Plans, manages, monitors, reports, and evaluates budgets for early learning programs.
  • Trains licensed and non-licensed staff in best practices in early childhood education as well as  policies and procedures of the school district.
  • Establishes and maintains Early Learning Committees to best grow the vision of the program.
  • Administers the School Readiness and Pathways Scholarship funding.
  • Oversees compliance with Minnesota Parent Aware and MDE/DCYF.

Qualifications:

  • Minnesota Teaching License in early childhood or parent education required.
  • Masters in Educational Leadership and Minnesota Administrative License required.
  • Ability and willingness to be a trainer for Red Cross CPR/First Aid for staff.
  • Extensive knowledge and background in Early Childhood Education, Early Childhood Pedagogy and breadth of knowledge of early childhood programming (ECFE, Preschool, Child Care, Screening, and collaboration with ECSE).
  • 2 years experience in leadership and evaluation experience with instructional staff
