Elementary Targeted Services Summer School Physical Education Teacher (Multiple Positions)

POSITION INFORMATION: Program dates and times are July 7 – July 31, Monday – Thursday, 8:00am – 2:00pm. The daily schedule for this position is 7:30am – 2:30pm. Elementary sites are Bailey Elementary and Cottage Grove Elementary.  Summer School planning and teacher professional development will occur on June 24 or June 26.

Compensation:
Salary schedule based on Teacher contract, $32/hour.

POSITION SUMMARY:
Provide instruction and guidance for students attending Targeted Services Summer School.
 
PRIMARY JOB FUNCTIONS:

  1. Plan and conduct physical education instruction for students entering grades 1-5.
  2. Instruct students individually and in groups, using various teaching methods. Adapt teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students’ varying needs and interests.
  3. Incorporate SEL curriculum into daily instruction.
  4. Utilize SeeSaw as a platform for student learning and family engagement.
  5. Support site coordinators with the supervision of students during arrival and dismissal. 
  6. Create a positive environment to ensure successful learning for all students. 
  7. Communicate with families to share information about program content and student progress.
  8. Confer with parents or guardians, teachers, site coordinators, and extended learning coordinator in order to resolve students’ behavioral and academic concerns.
  9. Maintain accurate and complete student records as required by laws, district policies, and administrative regulations.
  10. Guide and counsel students with adjustment and/or academic issues or special academic interests.
  11.  Understand and maintain boundaries and confidentiality with students, families and staff.
  12. Other duties as assigned

JOB SPECIFICATIONS (EDUCATION, LICENSE, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES):
Required:
 

  1. Current Minnesota Teaching License in K-12 Physical Education.
  2. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  3. Demonstrated creativity, flexibility and enthusiasm to support students through innovative instruction.
  4. Demonstrated collaboration and relationship-building skills.
  5. Prompt, regular and reliable attendance.
