POSITION INFORMATION:
Program dates and times are July 8 – August 1, Monday-Thursday, 8;00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. The daily schedule for this position is 7:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Elementary summer sites are Nuevas Fronteras Elementary and Grey Cloud Elementary. The summer school staffing ratio will be 18:1. Literacy, math, STEM, and SEL curriculum will be provided. Summer school planning and teacher professional development will occur on June 27. Every student will have access to a mobile device.
POSITION SUMMARY:
Provide instruction and guidance for students attending Targeted Services Summer School.
PRIMARY JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Plan and conduct activities for a balanced program of instruction, demonstration, and work time that provides students with opportunities to observe, question, investigate, and communicate.
- Instruct students individually and in groups, using various teaching methods. Adapt teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students’ varying needs and interests.
- Incorporate SEL curriculum into morning meetings, daily instruction, and closing activities.
- Utilize SeeSaw as a platform for student learning and family engagement.
- Create a positive environment to ensure successful learning for all students.
- Communicate with families to share information about program content and student progress.
- Confer with parents or guardians, teachers, site coordinators, and extended learning coordinator in order to resolve students’ behavioral and academic concerns.
- Maintain accurate and complete student records as required by laws, district policies, and administrative regulations.
- Guide and counsel students with adjustment and/or academic issues or special academic interests.
- Understand and maintain boundaries and confidentiality with students, families, and staff.
- Support site coordinators with the supervision of students during arrival and dismissal.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS (EDUCATION, LICENSE, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES):
Required:
- Current Minnesota Teaching License in Elementary Education, English as a Second Lanaguage, Special Education and/or Library Media Specialist.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated creativity, flexibility and enthusiasm to support students through innovative instruction.
- Demonstrated collaboration and relationship-building skills.
- Prompt, regular and reliable attendance.
- Communicates with students, parents, co-workers, supervisors, and the community in a positive and responsive way that is consistently welcoming and enhances effective work relationships.
- Demonstrates an appreciation of diversity in all interactions and job functions.
