POSITION SUMMARY:
Develop and implement ECFE and preschool instruction in cooperation with other classroom team members and early childhood program expectations.
 
PRIMARY JOB FUNCTIONS:

  1. Develop and implement developmentally appropriate weekly lesson plans for B-5 classes and three and/or four year old preschool.
  2. Support program initiatives and early childhood best practices in the classroom.
  3. Implement and utilize positive behavior management expectations and processes supported through the Pyramid training, coaching and tools.
  4. Deliver curriculum and assessment based on State and district approved tools.
  5. Plan a classroom system and collaborate with classroom team to collect student performance data for assessment.
  6. Enter classroom data for individual students in the electronic assessment system and for the parent progress report and meet program checkpoint timelines.
  7. Assist in the identification, referral and instruction of children with special needs.
  8. Prepare and organize parent/teacher conferences twice per year (fall and spring)
  9. Organize the planning and supervision of field trips.
  10. Collaborate with school sites and the Early Childhood program to plan for and attend preschool enrollment and other early childhood program sponsored parent/child events.
  11. Maintain a stimulating, healthy, and clean classroom environment that promotes student learning.
  12. Communicates with students, parents, co-workers, supervisors and the community in a positive and responsive way that is consistently welcoming and enhances effective work relationships.
  13. Provide daily guidance and direction to paraprofessionals by communicating duties verbally and in writing, by posting duties, lesson plans, schedules and direction for support of assessment.
  14. Maintain an inventory of supplies and equipment.
  15. Follow processes expected by Community Education for the early childhood programs as outlined by Early Childhood administration.

15.  Participate in program development and evaluation as requested.
16.  Attend early childhood meetings and professional development as required.
17.  Keep informed of current trends in the Early Childhood field through professional development.
18.  Other duties as assigned.
 
JOB SPECIFICATIONS (EDUCATION, LICENSE, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES):
       Required:

  1. Training or experience teaching in an early learning and/or preschool classroom.
  2. Experience developing, modifying, and implementing curriculum and learning environments for preschool children.
  3. Group leadership skills.
  4. Demonstrated collaboration and relationship building skills
  5. Excellent communicator and organizational skills.
  6. Ability and desire to teach under the team concept.
  7. Prompt, regular and reliable attendance.
  8. Ability to perform routine computer functions as required for the job.
  9. Demonstrates an appreciation of diversity in all interactions and job functions.

       Preferred:

  1. Current Minnesota licensure in Early Childhood Education
