Position Type & Hours:

  • Full time, Exempt
  • Monday – Friday (some evening and weekends)
  • 8.0 hours per day
  • 260 days per year
  • Flexible in office schedule

Salary:

  • $55,000 – $60,000 based on experience and education

Position Summary: This role presents a distinctive opportunity to exercise creativity and foster community engagement through educational initiatives and service provision. Reporting to the Director of Community Education & Services, the Communications and Marketing Coordinator is tasked with formulating, executing, and refining communication and marketing  strategies aimed at cultivating a favorable perception of Westonka Community Education. Responsibilities include orchestrating positive media exposure, executing marketing campaigns, assisting with the coordination of  special events, and contributing to fundraising endeavors. Integral to the role is the upkeep of Westonka Community Education & Services’ overarching image through various marketing tools, ensuring consistency in promotional efforts across Community Education programs, addressing media inquiries, fostering positive internal and community relations through publication preparation, and assuming a leadership role within the Community Education department. Additionally, responsibilities encompass website management, social media coordination, and photography.
 
Qualifications:

  • Minimum Associate’s Degree in Graphic Design & Marketing, or relevant experience
  • 2 years of experience in Communications, Marketing, and Graphic Design
  • 2 years experience utilizing Adobe Creative Suite,  InDesign & Illustrator to produce print publications
  • Strong communication and public relations skills
  • Valid MN Driver’s License or evidence of equivalent mobility
  • Ability to work with and lead a diverse group of people

 
Preferred Qualifications:  Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design & Marketing
  
Responsibilities
Marketing

  • Maintain and enhance the overall Community Education image through marketing tools
  • Ensure consistency in marketing for all Community Education programs
  • Develop and manage a marketing and communication calendar
  • Collaborate with team members to identify target audiences and trends using ELEYO data
  • Create Community Education catalogs, flyers and advertisements using Adobe Creative Suite
  • Assist Administrative Assistant in updating ELEYO, websites, bulletin boards and displays
  • Oversee, coordinate, and maintain social media (Facebook & X) presence for all Community Education programs and create new channels as needed
  • Manage branding and logo usage
  • Develop seasonal catalogs – using Adobe InDesign & other Adobe products
  • Create digital video content and coordinate digital signage
  • Manage web pages for all Community Education programs
  • Capture high-quality photos at Community Education events for marketing materials
  • Implement and adhere to ethics of copyright laws
  • Assist Community Education Director & Coordinators in ensuring handbooks are consistent between programs  and updated annually

 Communication

  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, parents, school staff, administrators, and outside agencies
  • Possess general knowledge of administrative policies and procedures pertinent to the activities and programs of Community Education
  • Communicate effectively with diverse groups
  • Disseminate information and promote Community Education programs.
  • Communicate effectively with diverse groups
  • Address problems, public relations concerns and issues with discretion
  • Analyze data to improve Community Education outreach efforts
  • Present information to small and large groups
  • Write clearly and concisely for a variety of documents

 General

  • Collaborates with community members and district staff to promote Community Education initiatives that improve the quality of life of the residents we serve
  • Attend Community Education programs and leadership team meetings
  • Knowledge of administrative policies and procedures pertinent to the programs of Community Education
  • Attend training sessions and conferences related to the responsibilities of the position
  • Demonstrate confidentiality.
  • Handle a variety of assignments or problems independently; flexibility to work independently; work through frequent interruptions.
  • Assist in the collaborative development of planning and implementing special events.
  • Attend Advisory Council meetings as requested.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
