As a small, project-based school we serve a total of 115 students in grades 6 - 12. Terra Nova has a focus on the environmental sciences in addition to core subject areas. Description

The Administrative Assistant is responsible for supporting the smooth and efficient operation of the school front office. This person is the first point of contact for students, staff, families, visitors, and volunteers. They should be welcoming, personable, and helpful as they represent the school in a professional and friendly manner. This person is organized, flexible, and has the ability to multitask as they serve the community through phone calls, written communication, and face-to-face contact. This person will provide administrative assistance to the various committee chairs, school staff and students by managing daily attendance through use of district information technology systems, answering/screening phone calls, receiving and passing information to committees based on incoming inquiries and requests, coordinating meetings and events, handle confidential student information, keep an organized and neat work space that presents the school in a professional manner, and other related duties.

Minimum Qualifications/Abilities:

Minimum of a two-year degree or charter school office experience

Excellent technology skillsets in Google email, Docs, Sheets, Forms, Presentations

Ability to generate clear and concise documents

Adeptness with social media tools

Strong organization skills including the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously, create/request clarity on multiple priorities, and accomplish tasks under a deadline

A high degree of accuracy and attention to detail

Strong interpersonal skills and poise in communicating with people.

Excellent professional writing and oral communications skills

Ability to contribute ideas for continuous improvement

Ability to work effectively as a contributing member of a small team with humor and creativity

Flexibility and adaptability – an ability to react positively and quickly to last-minute changes

Ability to work with students who need additional supports (are on Individualized Education Plans or similar)

Strong level of maintaining professionalism and privacy when handling student data

Preferred:

Charter school experience.

Finance experience.

Preferred knowledge of MDE terms and systems

Preferred knowledge of JMC and Headrush (project-based management systems)
