POSITION OPENING
YOUTH PROGRAMS SPECIAL EDUCATION PARAPROFESSIONAL (SUMMER)

 

POSITION:   
YOUTH PROGRAMS SPECIAL EDUCATION PARAPROFESSIONAL  (SUMMER 2024)

LOCATION:
Youth Programs Summer Sites

CLASSIFICATION:
MSEA Level 3

RATE OF PAY:
$21.09/hour

HOURS PER DAY:
Depending on program needs, candidates are hired to work 4.5-8.5 hours per day. The length of shifts may vary from day to day. 

START & ENDING TIME:
Eagle Zone Summer Program:
The program operates 7:00 AM – 6:00 PM. SPED Paras working with Eagle Zone typically work 8.5 hour (30-minute unpaid break) shifts. 

EPIC Summer Program:
The program operates from 8:30 AM to 12:00 PM and in the afternoon from 1:00 to 4:30 PM. SPED Paras working with EPIC typically work 4.5 to 8.5 hours (30-minute unpaid break for 5+ hours) shifts.

POSITION DATES:
Hired candidates must be available on the following days to complete required training: June 10th AND June 11th from 9:30 am – 6:00 pm.

Eagle Zone Summer Programming is open Monday to Friday and runs from June 12th to August 22nd. Eagle Zone is closed on June 19th, July 4th, and July 5th.

EPIC Summer Programming is open Monday to Thursday and runs from June 24th to August 15th. EPIC is closed the week of July 1st to 5th.

PAID HOLIDAYS:
N/A

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

Candidates will be working with both Eagle Zone and EPIC programs.  Preferences for either program will be considered but not guaranteed. 

  • Two year degree or higher, 60 credits toward a degree, or the passing of the ParaPro Assessment.
  • Basic child development educational background or knowledge preferred.
  • Willingness to work with and show respect for students with special needs.
  • Able to work independently.
  • Demonstrated communication skills, patience, and flexibility.
  • Experience with special education students including EBD, LD, and MMH
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to follow teacher’s plan and direction, and communicate effectively with students, staff, and parents.
