Description/Requirements:
The AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) program at Rockford High School is seeking Academic Tutors to support current students in the AVID program.  The AVID program is a college readiness system that provides academic support to students enrolled in rigorous courses and prepares them for college eligibility and success.  This program is for Rockford High School students who have the desire and determination to do their academic/ personal best at school and in the global society.
 
The AVID program is dependent upon the tutors for guiding our students to the higher levels of learning and personal achievement.   All tutors will be trained in the Socratic Method and will work with small groups of students under the supervision of the AVID teacher.  Tutors are not expected to know the correct answers, but assist the students through the process of finding answers by asking questions and challenging them to think critically.

AVID tutoring is from 8-11:15 am on either Monday/Wednesday and 8:00 – 9:15 a.m. Tuesday/Thursday.
