Teacher Assistant – Early Childhood Special Education

Job Description:  

Partnering with the Preschool and ECSE Teachers, the Early Childhood Assistant Teacher is responsible for welcoming and supporting children three and four years old in our preschool classes at St. Anthony Community Services. The Assistant Teacher models social emotional skills, implements group play and self-directed activities that are developmentally appropriate. The Assistant Teacher also implements adaptations into activities to ensure inclusion and participation by students.  

This position works closely with the Preschool and ECSE Teachers in implementing planned curriculum in leading large and small group activities and documenting assessments and observations regarding children’s learning and growth, assisting children with daily living skills; and monitoring the safety of children engaged in play. 

Qualifications:  

Experience working with young children three to five years of age, ability to work effectively on a team, and ability to develop positive relationships with families and their young children.  Coursework or degree in early childhood education desired.

20 hours per week
Monday-Friday, 9:00-11:30 am and 12:45-3:15 p.m.
 $16.61 to $19.33 per hour
