Job Title: Summer STEAM Teachers Grades 1-8

Job Description: Morning-only teachers will report from 7:30am – 12:30pm. Afternoon-only teachers will report from 11:30am – 3:30pm. Full-day teachers will report from 7:30am – 3:30pm with a 30-minute unpaid lunch. Responsibilities may include teaching STEAM concepts and literacy skills to a section of elementary or middle level students, collaborating to plan and lead cabin time activities and serving as a mentor to the Program Facilitators. Positions are available at our Jefferson Elementary (grades 1-4) and Faribault High School (grades 5-8) sites. 

 

Summer STEAM will run from June 17 through August 1, 2024, Monday – Thursday. On June 19th and July 4th, there will be no summer STEAM. There will be some required training dates for staff during the week of June 10, which will be communicated to all hired staff once details are finalized. Summer STEAM teachers will report to Jefferson Elementary or Faribault High School and will be paid $36.28/hour during June and $37.13/hour during July and August. Additional paid opportunities may be available for teachers interested in curriculum writing and participating in family engagement events. Applicants who are available for the entirety of the program and willing to work full days will be considered first.
 
Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Plan, prepare and deliver instructional activities
  • Create a positive educational climate for students to learn in
  • Participate in ongoing training sessions
  • Create lesson plans
  • Utilize various curriculum resources
  • Utilize curricula that reflect the diverse educational, cultural, and linguistic backgrounds of the students served
  • Work with program leads and coordinator to ensure initiatives are being met
  • Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities
  • Prepare and distribute required reports
  • Observe and evaluate students’ performance with Continual Learning Plans
  • Manage student behavior in the classroom by invoking approved disciplinary procedures
  • Participate in weekly PLC meetings with the STEAM Team

 
Qualifications:
Experience with leading programming, team building, staff collaboration, and effective communication. Experience teaching students grades 1-8. Strong background in reading and math. Experience in Targeted Services preferred.

Licensure necessary for position: License by State of Minnesota in Education.
