Description

Job Description:

  • Part-time, Secondary English, Science, Mathematics, Social Studies, and Driver’s Education (classroom portion only) teacher at the Waseca Area Learning Center credit recovery program.  The Waseca Area Learning Center is a well-established alternative program located in the center of Waseca with easy access to many outdoor resources in the community.  This teaching assignment is M-H 8:30 am – 12:00 pm, and runs through June 10th – June 24th, 2024; no classes on June 19th.  

 

Core Teachers:

  • Using student records, each teacher will be expected to assign curricula using our different credit recovery program options.  This will be done in cooperation with the WALC coordinator, special education teacher, and 504 coordinator. 

  • Each teacher will be required to monitor the progress of all their students allowing for individualization of instruction.  

  • Work is performed under the supervision of the WALC Coordinator.

Essential functions of the job may include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver lesson plans and instructional materials that facilitate active learning.

  • Develops schemes of work, lesson plans, and tests that are in accordance with established procedures.

  • Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment.

  • Use relevant technology to support and differentiate instruction.

  • Manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures.

  • Maintain discipline in accordance with the rules and disciplinary systems of the school.

  • Provide appropriate feedback on work.

  • Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students and use information to adjust teaching strategies.

  • Maintain accurate and complete records of students’ progress and development.

  • Update all necessary records accurately and completely as required by laws, district policies, and school regulations.

  • Prepare required reports on students and activities.

  • Communicate necessary information to students, colleagues, and parents regarding student progress and student needs.

  • Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities.

  • Prepare the classroom for class activities.

  • Provide a variety of learning materials and resources for use in educational activities.

  • Observe and evaluate student’s performance and development.

  • Assign and grade class work, homework, tests, and assignments.

 

Required Qualifications: 

  • Valid Minnesota teaching license in the appropriate field or the ability to do so.

 

Desired Qualifications:

  • Technology skills in Google Suite and other educational applications

  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.

  • Must have the ability and proven ability to report to work on a regular and punctual basis.

  • Perform all other related work delegated or required to accomplish the objectives of the total school program.

  • Meet professional teacher education requirements of school, district, and state.
