School Success Coaches will meet with students and families to assess individual school needs and provide educational skills and support services.  The coaches will also provide linkages to community resources for the student and the family and coordinate service delivery with other agencies.  Coaches will work with students regarding school engagement issues, motivation, broadening outlooks for the future, and address barriers to success.  Additionally, coaches will work within the school system and the community to promote cultural understanding of diversity and equity issues.  Coaches will provide on-site interpreting services.

Job Summary:
The School Success Coach is a stand-alone classification.  Incumbents are responsible for working with target populations of students in the assigned school(s) to help ensure school success and eventual graduation. He/she will work with the staff in the building to identify areas of concern and work with families to help address these areas. This may involve home visits at times that are convenient for the family. The success coach may also work with outside agencies to provide needed support. He/she may work to help the student participate in extra-curricular activities that interest the student. For older students, the success coach will also help the student and family help plan for life after graduation, including potential post-secondary education.

Qualifications:
High School Diploma, or G.E.D required.  Must be proficient in Karen and English.  Experience in interpreting and translating information, school experience is preferred; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.

Working Conditions:
Inside working in an office and classroom environment.
