Job Summary:
WEST ABE is a consortium of educational sites within school districts and three county jails to help adults acquire basic skills.  Monticello is the fiscal agent.  Stearns County Jail ABE site is a safe computer lab where inmates can get help with their reading, writing, math, job and computer skills. Position requires confidentiality, testing, monthly attendance and record keeping and requests an individual who is flexible, independent and responsible. Substitute year-round position, with the possibility for additional hours.  Paid professional development and training. 

  • PT shared position, 2-3 days per week
  • Flexible schedule, daytime hours
  • Teach basic skills in reading, writing & math.
  • Training provided

Certification and Experience:

  • 4-year degree required
  • Pass Background Check
  • Previous experience working with Community Education/adults preferred
  • Teaching license preferred

 
Essential Skills Required: 

  • Computer skills required, knowledge of MS Office/Google or comparable
  • Strong leadership and time management skills required
  • Understanding on Minnesota Academic Standards and GED requirments
  • Effective decision making skills while acting within the district policies, procedures and guidelines
  • Ability to communicate effectively with students and staff
  • Maintain confidentiality of information about students, families and staff
  • Experience working with diverse students and families
