Temporary substitute for health paraprofessional position: Student contact days only; position to start 9/5/2023. 7 hours a day, 5 days a week.
Description: Under the direction of the District Licensed School Nurse, the health assistant will provide various health services to students attending HLWW Middle School & High School.
Job Summary:

Provide first aid and emergency care to students according to healthcare provider orders and/or district policies.

Administer medication to students as prescribed by a healthcare provider and authorized by the parent/guardian.

Maintain student health records by documenting first aid and interventions provided in the electronic health record.

Assist the District Licensed School nurse in enforcing state immunization laws by contacting parent/guardians for updated immunization records and documenting student immunizations in the electronic health record.

Assist the District Licensed School nurse in monitoring and reporting communicable disease within the school.

Conduct hearing and vision screenings for routine screening and special education evaluations.

Perform general office duties such as answering phone calls, typing, sorting, filing, maintaining files and records, processing forms, and maintaining stock of first aid supplies.

Other job duties as assigned.
Qualifications:

Current first aid and CPR certifications, including use of an AED

Ability to maintain confidentiality

Ability to effectively establish and maintain working relationships with students, parents, staff, and community through positive communication skills

Knowledge or willingness to learn about the prevention and transmission of communicable diseases

Ability to receive and follow instructions
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements:

Normal office environment

Will work independently in the health office under the supervision of the District Licensed School Nurse

Frequent contact with many children who are ill or injured

Frequent contact with blood and bodily fluids
-
Occasional lifting up to 50 pounds

Must be physically capable of responding to an emergency, performing CPR and other rescue maneuvers
