POSITION OVERVIEW:
This is a full time Student Success Coach position at Salem Hills Elementary. The goal of the position includes working collaboratively to achieve the school district’s strategic plan in achieving and maintaining:

QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in educational field
  • 3-5 years of classroom teaching experience
  • Current state of MN elementary or secondary teaching license
  • Relevant experience with research based classroom management and proactive behavior management strategies
  • Proven success working collaboratively with employees, supervisors, parents, and students in a team building environment

  • Ability to determine, prioritize, schedule, and complete complex job assignments and projects without supervision and within the time allocated
  • Ability to operate independently and effectively while following established procedures and protocols.
  • Ability to anticipate and/or recognize problems and/or complications and to determine and implement practical corrective solutions to problems and issues
  • Ability to work with racially, culturally, and economically diverse populations of students and families
  • Ability to build positive relationships and establish frequent and consistent communication and collaboration with all stakeholders.
  • Ability to demonstrate effective communication with parents/ guardians that displays cultural sensitivity 
  • Ability to display positive leadership and make substantial contributions at both the building and district level on projects, initiatives, and curriculum improvement.
  • Ability to seek out professional development opportunities and apply knowledge of current research and theory to instructional and behavioral programs.
  • Ability to collaborate with others to improve professional practice and student achievement.
  • Demonstrate care for assigned district resources, equipment, and materials, and reporting concerns regarding facility and equipment to designated supervisors.
  • Knowledge of and adhering to all procedures and practices prescribed in teacher, student, and/or parent handbooks.
  • Knowledge of school board policies and adhering to federal and state laws that apply to the job assignment.
  • Skill in providing direction and supervision for all assigned school activities.
  • Ability to perform all other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the building principal or district administrator.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Support teachers with the direct modeling of Social Emotional Learning lessons and classroom management strategies.
  • Facilitate training and monitor school-wide positive behavior intervention and support system (PBIS) including coordination of districtwide SEL screener. 
  • Analyze behavioral data for trends and reporting to the Minnesota Department of Education.
  • Partner with building administrators on responding to office managed behavior to ensure that district discipline procedures are followed.
  • Facilitate, manage and implement, research based small group and/or individualized interventions that align with the Intervention Process. (Ex: direct skill instruction, check-in/check out (CICO), check and connect, structured breaks).
  • As a part of a behavior support team, intervene in a behavioral health crisis and collaborate with building and district staff to determine appropriate resources for students.
