Speech and Language Pathologist 
Part time 20 hours per week during Student Contact days

Job Summary:

  1. Provides direct instruction to students as required in IEPs.
  2. Completes evaluations both individually and as a part of a collaborative team.

  3. Provides consultation services to classroom teachers; supports classroom teachers in understanding and implementing classroom intervention strategies.

  4. Leads, attends, and participates in IEP meetings.

  5. Case manages students receiving speech-language services as their primary disability.

  6. Works collaboratively to update and/or create IEP speech and language goals and objectives.

  7. Completes progress notes as required for IEPs.

  8. Completes medical billing for eligible students.

  9. Participates in evaluations and child find or child study meetings as requested.

Qualifications:

  1. Four-year degree
  2. Master’s Degree and ASHA CCC’s, preferred.
  3. MN Teacher License in Speech and Language Pathology
  4. Experience working in a school-related field, preferred.
  5. Experience working with and providing service to persons of diverse cultures, races, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
  6. Evidence of a growth mindset and ability to accelerate growth in communication skills using a strengths based model.
  7. Ability to work efficiently, effectively, and cooperatively with multidisciplinary teams.
  8. Strong oral and written communication skills.
  9.  Ability to relate positively to students, staff, and community.
  10. Experience working in a school setting or with children Kindergarten through High School.
  11. Ability to follow directions and procedures and facilitate collaborative teaming around students.
  12. Ability to facilitate, write and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and Behavior Support Plans.
  13. Ability to collaborate with nursing staff to support and perform the necessary delegated health tasks.
  14. Knowledge of best practices in the field of special education and implementation strategies for sensory activities, positive behavior support, academic instruction, development of routines, etc.
  15. Understanding and ability to conduct an evaluation and determine if a student is eligible for services to support speech, articulation, fluency, voice or language needs.
  16.  Understanding of and ability to identify appropriate augmentative or alternative communication systems for students.
  17.  Ability to train teams in the implementation and use of augmentative or alternative communication systems for students.
  18. Thorough understanding of the laws, rules and regulations of special education.
