Job Description:

  • Walker Hackensack Akeley ISD #113 is seeking applicants for a 1.0 FTE Speech Language Pathologist Assistant to work with the licensed Speech Language Pathologists as a team to provide speech services to students in person and facilitating online services.  Qualified candidates should have a strong background in communication skills, technology, collaborative team building, and a desire to work with children.  

 
Qualifications:   

  • The Speech and Language Assistant works under the direct supervision of the assigned licensed Educational Speech and Language Pathologist to provide prescribed language, articulation, voice and fluency practice to students receiving special education services.  Candidate should have the SLPA certificate or willing to obtain the certificate.

 
Position Summary:

  • Follows and implements treatment plans developed by the licensed Educational Speech and Language Pathologist.
  • Documents student progress toward meeting established objectives and reports this information to the supervising Educational Speech and Language Pathologist.
  • Maintains a record of the frequency of service provided to students.
  • Documents the speech and language functioning of children within the classroom setting.
  • Compiles data associated with evaluations to assist in determining needs of children.
  • Recommends improvements to the written treatment plan to reflect the child’s changing needs.
  • Implements recommendations as approved by the licensed Educational Speech and Language Pathologist.
  • Knowledge of school and department policies and procedures, guidelines and philosophy.
  • Knowledge of concepts, principles and fundamentals and techniques of speech and language pathology.
  • Knowledge of disabilities and medical conditions.
  • Knowledge of speech and language interventions and techniques.
  • Knowledge of the application and use of computers, business productivity software/applications such as word, excel, email programs and other office productivity software utilized by the department in the performance of the job.
  • Knowledge of laws, rules and regulations governing students with disabilities.
  • Ability to facilitate services and support the work of the online speech pathologist.
  • Ability to support the work of onsite speech pathologists.
  • Performs other duties as needed.

Salary range $19-24/hour DOQ, plus benefits
