Job Summary

Pine Island Public Schools is currently seeking a qualified Special Education Teacher for the 2024-2025  school year. The school is located 11 miles from Rochester, Minnesota, and serves approximately 1500 PK-12 students. The chosen candidate will play a crucial role in assessing academic, social, emotional, and behavioral needs through standardized evaluations and formal and informal problem-solving methods, complying with due process laws, and meeting student needs through specialized instruction. Job Responsibilities

  • Implement evidence-based practices outlined in Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) to foster student independence and academic growth.

  • Ensure highest levels of inclusion in general education settings and meet all due process timelines and special education regulations.

  • Collaborate with colleagues to address student needs, facilitate IEP meetings, and provide research-based special education services.

  • Supervise paraeducators, participate in crisis intervention training, and utilize technology for instruction and communication.

  • Analyze data, collaborate with PLC and SST/PST teams, and adhere to district policies while maintaining positive relationships with stakeholders.

  • Other duties as assigned

 

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • This position supervises paraeducators but lacks formal authority for hiring, termination, or discipline.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in special education or equivalent, with a current Minnesota Teaching License in special education categories.

  • Prior experience in special education settings preferred, with skills in communication, technology integration, data analysis, and problem-solving.
