Job Summary
Pine Island Public Schools is currently seeking a qualified Special Education Teacher for the 2024-2025Â school year. The school is located 11 miles from Rochester, Minnesota, and serves approximately 1500 PK-12 students. The chosen candidate will play a crucial role in assessing academic, social, emotional, and behavioral needs through standardized evaluations and formal and informal problem-solving methods, complying with due process laws, and meeting student needs through specialized instruction. Job Responsibilities

Implement evidence-based practices outlined in Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) to foster student independence and academic growth.

Ensure highest levels of inclusion in general education settings and meet all due process timelines and special education regulations.

Collaborate with colleagues to address student needs, facilitate IEP meetings, and provide research-based special education services.

Supervise paraeducators, participate in crisis intervention training, and utilize technology for instruction and communication.

Analyze data, collaborate with PLC and SST/PST teams, and adhere to district policies while maintaining positive relationships with stakeholders.

Other duties as assigned

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position supervises paraeducators but lacks formal authority for hiring, termination, or discipline.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in special education or equivalent, with a current Minnesota Teaching License in special education categories.

Prior experience in special education settings preferred, with skills in communication, technology integration, data analysis, and problem-solving.
