District Information
St. Francis Area Schools is located in northern Anoka County and southern Isanti County. We are a rural/suburban district, covering 165 square miles with our early childhood center, three elementary schools, one middle school, one high school, and one ALC. Our school district annually educates more than 4,000 students and employs more than 750 staff members.

Qualifications
Valid Minnesota Teaching License in Special Education, with an EBD or ABS licensure. We are looking for a team-oriented individual that is comfortable and experienced in working with students with Emotional/Behavioral Disorders in a center based (setting III) setting within one of the district’s three elementary schools.

Summary of Duties

  • Provide direct special education services for students who have disabilities in a Level III EBD Program.

  • Work with the special education team to create individualized programs to meet the needs of each student.

  • Implement specific curriculum and instruction to students in the program to assist them with social and emotional skills. 

  • Work with classroom teachers to facilitate opportunities for students to participate in the mainstream classroom whenever possible to facilitate strong academics.

  • Provide work direction and support to the Educational Assistants assigned to the program.

  • Communicate with families regarding students’ educational programming and progress.

  • Develop, write and implement IEPs for assigned caseload (approximately 4-8 students).

  • Collaborate with district educational assessment team to complete special education evaluations of students as required.    

  • Knowledge of the process for completing Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBAs) and implementation of Positive Behavior Intervention Plans (PBIPs) to address challenging behaviors. 

  • Experience with providing specialized instruction focusing on delays in social/emotional skillsets.  

  • Experience with curriculum and evidence based practices that focus on social cognition, communication, and self awareness. 
     

Contract Days/Hours
The duty day is Monday-Friday, 7:50 am – 3:50 pm, 186 contract days per year (includes professional development time).

Salary
Based on the current Teacher Work Agreement, will negotiate based on qualifications/years of experience.
