    Description/Requirements

    Rockford Area Schools is seeking multiple full-time licensed Special Education Teachers. This individual will work with students with various disabilities. This individual will work with a team of Special Education teachers to carry out individualized instruction in the areas of academics (reading, writing, math, etc), social/emotional learning, behavior regulation, and functional skills. This individual must have strong communication and leadership skills, as well as a strong passion and commitment to work with students. The Special Education teacher will be responsible for planning, writing, and implementing IEP goals and objectives.

    This individual will work closely with colleagues to implement specialized instruction across a continuum of service. The individual needs to have collaborative teaching and consultative skills in working with multiple staff across learning environments. The teacher will have an understanding of service coordination with the related service providers and create a strong community of support for students. The individual will also work with general education teachers and paraprofessionals to ensure accommodations and modifications are being implemented through lessons, activities, assignments, and tests. The individual will manage a data collection system for sharing clear information with teachers and parents. The position also requires the teacher to provide clear direction to paraprofessionals when working in the educational environment.

    All Special Education teaching licenses considered.

  • Single Coverage – District pays $740 toward premium 

  • Family Coverage – District pays $1400 toward premium 

  • District contributes $1,000 into HSA – if enrolled in high deductible plan

  • Flexible Spending Acct:  Employees may elect to contribute on a pre-tax basis to Health Flexible Spending Accounts and Dependent Care Accounts

    Retirement:

  • The District contributes 7.25% of your total salary in the Teachers Retirement Association pension plan

  • Employees may also elect to participate in Deferred Compensation Plan once continuing rights granted

  • Dental:  Single coverage – District pays sum that covers premium for employee only

    Life Insurance:  District provides $60,000 of life insurance at no cost, employee may purchase supplemental life insurance

    Long Term Disability:  District provided at no cost to the employee
