The SouthWest Metro Intermediate District #288 has a Full-Time opening for a Special Education Paraprofessional in the Ascent program located at River Valley Education Center in Jordan, MN for the 2024/2025 school year.

The Ascent program serves middle school students at our River Valley Education Center in Jordan. Ascent is an Emotional/Behavioral Program (EBD) for students in grades 5-8. 

Description:
Special Education Paraprofessional, 7 hours a day for 183 Contract Days. 
 
Efficiently and effectively assist in providing a well-organized, smoothly functioning program in a special education setting while working under the supervision of a supervising teacher.  Performs support work assisting students in meeting educational, communication, emotional, physical and behavioral goals of special needs students.  Works Individually or in small groups. 
 
Job Summary:

Qualifications:
•          Two years of study at an institution of higher education (60 college credits) OR an Associate degree (or higher) OR the successful completion of the Paraeducator training and assessments (District funded).
•          The ability to obtain the PCA/CFSS certificate.
•          Experience working with students with significant disabilities is preferred, but not required.  
•          Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (CPI) required. Training is offered by the school district.
•          Must pass a background check.
•          Capable of discretion/confidentiality.
 
Pay & Benefits:
