Special Education Coordinator – Houston Public Schools / Minnesota Virtual Academy 
 
Houston Public Schools is hiring a Special Education Coordinator for the 2024-2025 school year.  This position will support both brick and mortar and Minnesota Virtual Academy.  Under the direction of the Director of Special Education, the Special Education Coordinator provides leadership, coordination, training, and support for special education best practices in assigned grade levels/buildings.  
 
The coordinator collaborates with all stakeholders in the areas of Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS), assessment, accommodations, and interventions.  Additionally, the Special Education Coordinator assists in the monitoring of special education compliance and best practices throughout the district.
 
The preferred candidate will have the following qualifications:

• Current or eligible for licensure as a special education teacher in Minnesota
• Student-centered mindset with a focus on collaborative relationships with students, parents, employees, and community agencies.
• Demonstrates leadership ability and expertise in student services and special education.
• Five years of experience as a special education teacher and/or coordinator.
