Spanish Instructor – .5 FTE

East Grand Forks School District is seeking applicants for a .5 FTE High School Spanish Instructor. 

East Grand Forks, MN is a city with a population of approximately 8,500 and located in the heart of the Red River Valley in Northwest Minnesota. It borders Grand Forks, ND and is very close to the University of North Dakota and Northland Community and Technical College. The district’s K-12 enrollment is approximately 1900 students as well as a thriving preschool program. The district has four separate school buildings housing grades K-2, 3-5, 6-8 and 9-12.

Qualifications:
The successful candidate must have earned a B.A. or B.S. degree and current Minnesota State (7-12) Spanish licensure, or ability to obtain said licensure.
Candidate must possess highly effective interpersonal skills and the ability work harmoniously with a wide range of students, families, and staff members.
Additional demonstrated qualifications include: commitment to the equitable education of all students; creative planning and organizational skills, and experience working with and celebrating diverse learners.

Reporting Relationship:
The Spanish instructor reports directly to the Building Principal.

Basic Function of the Position:
The Spanish instructor will be given the great responsibility of continuing our long standing commitment to academic excellence.  This will be achieved through the design and delivery of Spanish instruction that ensures the success of a diverse population of learners. In addition, you will be responsible for building positive relationships and working collaboratively with students, parents, and staff members to foster a positive experience for the entire learning community.

Job Description:
We are seeking a dynamic and passionate educator to join our team as a .5 FTE Senior High Spanish Instructor.
1. Planning, preparing and delivering effective lessons that cater to the various aspects of the Spanish Language
2. Developing and implementing curriculum that aligns with the educational standards and goals for teaching Spanish language proficiency.
3. Establishing and maintaining a positive and inclusive classroom environment conducive to learning and consistent with the maturity and interests of the students.
4. Administering different forms of assessments to evaluate student progress and understanding and communicate the results to supervisors and parents.
5. Responsible for differentiating instruction to meet the unique needs and abilities of all students
6. Parent communication regarding student progress.
7. Working collaboratively with other teachers, administration and support staff to create an effective educational environment.
