Job Description
Breckenridge Public Schools is currently seeking a dynamic and driven educator for Social Studies beginning with the 2024-2025 school year for grades 7-12.  Under the general supervision of the K-12 School Principal, the educator will develop lesson plans that promote critical thinking and problem solving skills.  All Breckenridge Public School teachers are charged with providing a rigorous, dynamic, and highly engaging learning environment.  

Responsibilities

  • Develops and administers social science education curriculum consistent with school district goals and MN state standards
  • Is creative in lessons and uses inquiry based, project based and active classroom strategies.
  • Develops lesson plans that provide students’ rigorous and relevant learning experiences.
  • Willingness to be a part of a team of educators 
  • Willingness to be coachable and accept feedback in learning startegies for students
  • Create learning experiences designed to enhance student learning.
  • Encourages students to think independently and express original ideas.
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others.
  • Inspire their students to ask questions and to seek out answers.
  • Staying current on the latest instructional technology and other resources.
  • Ensure high standards for student behavior and performance.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of current teaching methods and educational pedagogy, as well as differentiated instruction based upon student learning styles.
  • Ability to develop positive and appropriate relationships with students.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, and co-workers.
  • Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth.
  • Understanding and experience in utilizing instructional best practices to engage students in learning.
  • Collaborating with other teachers, staff, students, and parents to support student progress
  • Integration of technology into instruction.
  • Must have a growth mindset.

Extra-Curicular:  Extra-curricular coaching opportunities may be available. 

Qualifications:
Hold a Minnesota Social Studies license or willingness/ability to obtain licensure in the future.
Preferred: desire or ability to obtain/teach college level courses

Compensation:

According to the current master agreement which can be found on the website under employment opportunities/master agreements.
