Position
Assist in the Early Childhood Program and specifically sibling care program. Applicants should demonstrate a love for working in early childhood, passion for serving early childhood students and families, and ability to communicate with parents and fellow staff members.

Hours vary by the day:
21 hours/week
Monday: 8:45 am – 1:45 pm
Tuesday: 8:45 am – 2:45 pm
Wednesday: 8:45 am – 12:45 pm
Thursday: 8:45 am -12:45 pm
Friday: 10:45 am – 12:45 pm, some Fridays will have more hours depending on class schedule

Reports To: Early Childhood Family Education Coordinator
 

Job Description

  1. Supervise children between the ages of birth to 5 years old in the sibling care room
  2. Provide a safe, nurturing educational environment for children, including those with special needs.
  3. Assist in planning and directing age-appropriate classroom activities in collaboration with sibling care colleagues and program coordinator 
  4. Use positive discipline techniques, and provide comfort and reassurance to children
  5. Work with sibling care staff and parents to develop a plan for children needing more support
  6. Perform routine clerical duties related to the job assignment
  7. Supervision of students in/outdoors
  8. Promote a positive image of Centennial Schools and the Centennial Preschool program and contribute to a positive, respectful, professional working environment
  9. Perform other duties as assigned

     

Qualifications

  • High school diploma
  • Experience in the supervision of children, preferably early childhood and infants
  • Demonstrates successful skills in organization, verbal and written communication, and working with children and families of diverse backgrounds
  • Must be able to lift up to 35 lbs. in connection with the handling of children for the facilitation of programs, child safety, and potential emergency situations

 
Preferred

  • Knowledge of the school district 
  • Passion for working with young children and infants

Wage
Starting wage of $18.50 per hour. Consistent with the current Paraprofessional Master Agreement.
