Job Description
Breckenridge Public Schools is currently seeking a dynamic and driven High School 1.0 FTE educator for Life Sciences, Chemistry and Earth Sciences beginning  2024-2025 school year.  Under the general supervision of the K-12 School Principal, the educator will develop lesson plans and objectives that engage students and promote critical thinking and problem solving skills.  The goal of Breckenridge Schools is to hire cutting edge 21st Century Learning experts interested in working in a progressive forward thinking district. Desired candidates will possess strong content knowledge, ability to integrate technology into the curriculum, willingness to team teach, enthusiasm for project based learning in an active classroom, STEM teaching background, and excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and administers science education curriculum consistent with school district goals and objectives. 
  • Develops lesson plans that provide students rigorous and relevant learning experiences.
  • Conducts ongoing assessment of student learning and modifies instructional methods to fit individual student’s needs, including students with special needs.
  • Create projects designed to enhance student learning.
  • Encourages students to think independently and express original ideas.
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work.
  • Inspire their students to ask questions and to seek out answers.
  • Staying current on the latest technology and scientific discoveries

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of current teaching methods and educational pedagogy, as well as differentiated instruction based upon student learning styles.
  • Ability to develop positive and appropriate relationships with students.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with students and parents.
  • Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth.
  • Understanding and experience in utilizing instructional best practices to engage students in learning
  • Collaborating with other teachers, staff, students and parents to support student progress
  • Integration of technology into instruction.
  • Use a variety of learning methods such as lab experiments, field trips, mixed media and computer research.

Qualifications:
MN 9-12 Life Sciences, 9-12 Chemistry, 9-12 Earth Science License Preferred, Other Licenses Considered
