SCHOOL LIBRARIAN/MEDIA Specialist
OVERVIEW
Sejong Academy is a public charter school. Sejong Academy is a Korean Immersion school focusing on high standards for Korean, English education as well as educating global citizens. We are looking for a licensed school librarian for the 2024-2025 school year.
Sejong Academy is committed to providing an academically rigorous education to pre-K – 12th grade Twin Cities students through immersion experience in Korean language and culture by using research-based curriculum, high standards for accountability and promoting an appreciation for diversity and international cultures.
We are looking for a dedicated individual who is eager to help grow Sejong’s library program – both as a school and community resource.
PRIMARY JOB FUNCTIONS and Desired Qualifications

Understanding and ability to represent Korean culture through media center resources

Ability to speak and read Korean highly preferred

Collaborate with school partners to further develop and maintain school library (identify, acquire and catalog library resources).

Work collaboratively with members of Sejong Academy to define the policies of the school library program, and guide and direct all activities related to it.

Plan and teach library/media specials classes one day per week (may include research projects, etc.) for grades K-12 – providing direct student instruction regarding inquiry and research, using online databases and appropriately integrated curricular resources ensuring that students and staff are effective users of ideas and information.

Collaborate with teachers and staff to integrate information skills and technology tools across grade levels and disciplines.

Encourage the use of instructional technology to engage students and to improve learning

Remain current in professional practices and developments, information technology, and educational research applicable to school library programs.

Educate students and staff about copyright, fair use, and ethical use of information.

Introduce classrooms to new books or read to classes as requested.

Provide in-house subbing when requested

Other duties as assigned
