Effective immediately the Human Resources Department will accept on-line applications for a School Age Care Program Site Supervisors

Position:  School-Age Care Site Supervisor. Grades K-8
This position will start on August 26, 2024. Applicants must be able to work 8:00 am-4:00 pm, Aug. 26-30, 2024. September 3rd is the first day onsite with SAC participants. 
 

Salary:  $23.03-$25.14 per hour according to the 2021-2023 salary schedule for district paraprofessionals
This position may be eligible to receive a stipend (provided by the Great Start Compensation Support Payment Program through the Department of Human Services.) Stipends are based on the number of hours childcare staff work directly with children. May be eligible for free childcare while working for School Age Care. Some restrictions apply.

  • Garlough Elementary School

    • Monday – Friday, 6:30-7:30 am, 1.0 hours per day/5.0 hours per week.

  • Heritage Middle School

    • Monday – Friday, 6:30-8:30 am, 2.0 hours per day/10.0 hours per week.

Line of Supervision: School Age Care Coordinator, School Age Care Manager, and School Age Care Inclusion Manager.

Primary function: To provide quality, age appropriate school age care programming and curriculum under the direction of the Program Coordinator  

Qualifications: 

  • One or more years of relevant work experience in education or school age care and knowledge of child development

  • Strong leadership skills in program development and evaluation

  • Experience building successful teams and supervising staff

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to develop, maintain and nurture relationships

  • Work effectively in a team environment, ability to work as a team member

  • Proficient in Google Workspace 

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills applied to youth, parents, and staff

  • Experience with special needs children is desirable

  • CPR and First Aid certified, preferred 

  • CPI preferred

  • Must be willing to be flexible in schedule

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Include:

  • Planning, developing, and implementing a developmentally appropriate program in accordance with the policies and philosophy of the SAC program and guidelines.

  • Oversee and maintain daily schedules, rosters and accurate counts of children as needed.

  • Set the tone for a positive work environment.

  • Direct, supervise, and manage paraprofessional staff through observation and coaching. 

  • Observe the program in action for: quality, program improvement needs, staff observation.

  • Guide children’s behavior in a consistent, positive style. 

  • Ability to anticipate and diffuse problems and disruptive situations.

  • Maintain student files and document behavior when appropriate.

  • Design and maintain a supportive, safe environment.

  • Communicate on a regular basis with parents/guardians and school district staff. 

  • Supervise and monitor students at all times; supervise indoor and outdoor play, participate and intervene as necessary.

  • Implement emergency procedures when needed, including performance of CPR.

  • Maintain student files and document behavior when appropriate.

  • Must be available to work non-school days. Non-school day programming includes participation and supervision during off-site field trips. 

  • Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

  • Maintain positive and cooperative working relationships with colleagues and others in the conduct of district business and demonstrate teamwork in daily activities.

  • Is prompt, timely, and thorough in completing assignments and attending to details accurately and efficiently.

 

Physical Requirements: Physically capable of meeting all performance responsibilities required with students, including moderate standing, walking, stooping, bending, and kneeling. Presenting information to students and lifting up to 20 pounds.

  • Frequent: standing, walking, ability to walk two miles on uneven terrain, lifting waist to chest, lifting below waist, carrying, stooping, kneeling, crouching, squatting, twisting/pivot, reaching, simple grasp, firm grasp, fine manipulation, feeling, talking, hearing & visual accommodation, Exposure to weather, daily, when supervising children outdoors. 

  • Occasional: sitting, pushing, pulling, climbing, crawling, and exposure to weather when supervising children during outdoor play time. Ability to accompany children in the water on swimming field trips.
