Position Title: Safety Specialist
Primary Location: Winona Middle School
Assignment Specifications: 7 hours per day; School days only; 8:30am-4:00pm; 2024-25 School Year
Group Affiliation/Policy: Non-Affiliated
Classification: B-2-3
Hiring Range: $20.44 – $26.61/hour
Exempt Status: Non-Exempt
 
Responsibilities: Under direction of the Building Principal, the Safety Specialist will oversee and monitor the safety and well-being of property, students, and staff in the school building to allow for enhanced instruction.  This person will enforce individual school rules, policies, regulations and procedures and assist in the maintenance of an orderly, safe environment.  Much of this will be done by developing rapport with students and teachers and establishing trusting and respectful relationships.
 
Qualifications: Two years post secondary education is preferred. One year of experience working with adolescent-age students is preferred. Possess First Aid, CPR certification, BBP training and CPI certification within six months of date of hire is required.  Must have a valid Driver’s License and must complete Type III Van training annually.
 
Must be capable of operating office equipment and communication devices needed to orderly conduct responsibilities of the position. Must have the ability to learn and interpret school policies and procedures, and the ability to communicate tactfully and effectively.
