Position: PreKindergarten Teacher
Work Schedule: 8 hours/day, 194 days/year

Required Qualifications:

  • Early Childhood/Prekindergarten teaching license.
  • Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education/related field.
  • Experience working with culturally, socioeconomically, and ability diverse populations. Demonstrate intercultural competence.
  • Ability to implement high learning and behavioral standards in a nurturing and responsive environment.
  • Knowledge of and demonstrated implementation of data driven preschool teaching practices including on-going assessment, curriculum, and instructional strategies including the Classroom Engagement Model.
  • Ability to develop a professional partnership with families. This includes newsletters, regular communication through phone calls and texts, and conferences.
  • Demonstrated success in a collaborative work environment, including working with multiple disciplines and programs as well as directing Educational Assistants.
  • Effective interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organization in the preparation of the classroom, planning, and data collection.
  • Passion for professional growth and development.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bilingual language skills.
  • Training and experience in culturally and linguistically responsive teaching practices.
  • Training and experience in early childhood evidence-based practices. Experience with Creative Curriculum/Teaching Strategies Gold, Handwriting Without Tears, Early Childhood Workshop, Second Step, and proactive behavior strategies

Responsibilities:

  • Using district and program instructional procedures provide preschool education to children ages 3-5. This includes implementation of social-emotional strategies and supports, assessment, curriculum, and instruction.
  • Attend professional development provided by the district and program, including workshops, presentations, coaching sessions, staff meetings, and Professional Learning Communities. Implement the learning in instructional practice.
  • Develop strong relationships with children to promote learning and partnerships with parents/caregivers to promote family engagement, including parent-teacher conferences and on-going communications.
  • Contribute to a positive, respectful, professional working environment through interactions throughout the school location and District.
  • Collaborate with colleagues in a variety of ways, including planning instruction and co-teaching.
  • Direct Educational Assistants in supporting the classroom and child functioning.
  • Complete and submit all required program records, assessments, and data according to timelines.
  • Assist in implementation of IEP adaptations in the preschool classroom as stated by IDEA as the regular education teacher. Participation on a child’s IEP team as a required member.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by program and school leaders.
