About STMA Schools
We are a district that serves over 6,700 students and employs 750+ employees in a northwestern suburb of Minneapolis, Minnesota. Our district consists of one primary school for preschool and kindergarten students, three elementary schools for grades 1-4, two middle schools for grades 5-8, and one high school for grades 9-12. We also have a transition program for students aged 18-22.
Position Overview & Responsibilities
Responsible for developing and providing specialized, research-based instruction to meet the unique needs of students with disabilities. Also responsible for evaluating and assessing student progress against instructional objectives and following state mandated due process procedures and functions. Start date: August 25, 2025 (plus two additional orientation days in August for new-to-district teachers)
FTE: 0.5-0.8 depending upon enrollment and final school board authorization; anticipate FTE likely to fall towards the lower end of the range
Contract: 186 days
Salary Range (set by Collective Bargaining Agreement): exact compensation depends on final FTE and will be prorata of the 1.0 FTE range of $46,417-$98,146; for example, the range for 0.5 FTE is $23,208.50-$49,073.00. Salary ranges listed are based on the collective bargaining agreement for 2024-2025 school year, the 2025-2026 collective bargaining agreement has yet to be negotiated.

Requirements & Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in education and required teaching license in special education: Blind or Visually Impaired, as required by the State of Minnesota, specific content knowledge, training, or job experience required before appointment, and successful student teaching. Dual licensure preferred but not required.
Assignments
Special education teachers work by district assignment and may be moved between buildings and/or programs based on student needs, location of certain programs, student count(s), and applicable licensure.
