Description

The Fergus Falls School District is seeking to fill an elementary para educator position (library/academic support) at McKinley School for the 2024-25 school year. This position is for 7 hours/day during student contact days.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
The tasks listed below are not intended to limit other tasks that might reasonably be assigned as necessary.

  1. Prepare for library classes daily (check out books, read stories, keyboarding, etc.).
  2. Schedule, supervise and assist students in the library on a daily basis, including checking out books, reading with and to students and clerical duties as needed.
  3. Send daily notices to homeroom teachers concerning overdue books and collect fines for such books.
  4. Make repairs on damaged books.
  5. Ready books for reserve as requested by teachers and maintain the reserve shelf.
  6. Complete the annual inventory of library materials and the preparation of lists of missing books and books to be discarded.
  7. Complete processing and shelving of incoming books and magazines.
  8. Supervise students before school, on the playground, in the lunchroom, and after school.
  9. Order library supplies and books as requested by staff.  Keep materials up to date and current for supply and demand.
  10. Work with individual and/or small groups of students to reinforce material initially introduced by the teacher.
  11. Guide independent study, enrichment work and remedial work set up by the teacher.
  12. Alert the regular teacher to any problem or special information about an individual student.
  13. Participate in field trips as requested.
  14. Work in the office, as needed.
  15. Operate all office and school machines, as needed.
  16. Provide support for reading curriculum, as needed.
