Description

The Fergus Falls School District is seeking to fill a para educator position at our Area Learning Center (ALC) beginning with the 2024-25 school year.
This position is scheduled to work 7 hrs/day during student contact days. Salary ranges from $18.75-$20.30/hour (based off of the 2023-24 contract).

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. High School diploma and two years of college or tech courses preferred
  2. First Aid certification or ability to receive certification
  3. Demonstrate knowledge of computers and relevant programs
  4. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the board may find appropriate and acceptable

JOB GOAL:
To provide support to students to promote academic progress, appropriate participation, and contribute to the cohesive functioning of the Area Learning Center.
 
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
The tasks listed below are not intended to limit other tasks that might reasonably be assigned as necessary.
1.     Supervise students before school, during morning/afternoon breaks, lunch period, and other non-teaching times as necessary. 
2.     Manage student behavior, promoting problem solving and self-regulation.
3.     Support students to emotionally regulate.
4.     Utilize a school-wide behavior management plan.
5.     Assist students with academic assignments in the classroom.
6.     Attendance: Check and enter daily attendance; Call parents to verify absences; Assist with truancy letters 
7.     Breakfast/lunch period supervision: Use District’s software program to monitor and track student food accounts; Distribute second breakfast
8.     Care for sick and/or injured students; administer medications as needed. 
9.     Make copies as needed for teaching staff. 
10.    Assist on field trips. 
11.    In-service participation as required.
