Description

Effective immediately, South St. Paul Schools is hiring for a Middle School Packer Preview Teacher for the Summer Program. This position runs from June 17 through July 27, & July 8 through July 18; Monday through Thursday, 8:00am to 12:00pm (4 hours/day). The rate of pay for this position is $31.50/hour. This program is a transition program integrating students into secondary school, 5th and 6th grade.

Specific job duties include:
Plan and conduct activities for a balanced program of instruction, demonstration, and work time that
provides students with opportunities to observe, question, and investigate.

  • Instruct students individually and in groups, using various teaching methods. Adapt teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students’ varying needs and interests.
  • Observe and evaluate students’ performance, behavior, social development, and physical health.
  • Deliver the district’s written, taught and assessed curriculum.
  • Create a positive environment to ensure successful learning for all students.
  • Partner with parents or guardians, teachers, counselors, and administrators in order to support students’ academic and social-emotional development.
  • Maintain accurate and complete student records as required by laws, district policies, and administrative regulations.
  • Support the district’s mission, vision, values and strategic plan.
  • Prepare objectives and outlines for courses of study, following curriculum guidelines or requirements of states and schools.
  • Collaborate with other staff members to plan and schedule lessons promoting learning, following approved curricula.
  • Meet with other professionals to discuss individual students’ needs and progress.
  • Understand and maintain boundaries and confidentiality with students, families and staff.
  • Cultivate and develop inclusive and equitable working relationships with students, staff, families and community members.
  • Adhere to staff and program guidelines and district procedures and policies.
  • Demonstrate prompt, regular and reliable attendance.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Appropriate Minnesota teaching licensure for subject area and level taught, inclusive of middle school.
  • Commitment to working effectively with culturally, economically and socially diverse students and families.
  • Knowledge and experience with International Baccalaureate Program.
  • Effective oral and written expression.
  • Demonstrated collaboration and relationship building skills.
  • Excellent technology skills.
  • Strong communication skills verbally, orally and written
  • Ability to understand and follow data privacy rules and regulations related to students

Physical Requirements
Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, operate a computer and other office equipment, reach
with hands and arms, and must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Vision abilities required
include close vision.
