Athlos Academy of St. Cloud is a public, tuition-free K-8 charter school. Our school offers a unique approach that empowers students to live fulfilling, responsible, and successful lives by building on our three foundational pillars: Prepared Mind, Healthy Body, and Performance Character. Athlos students develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills as well as a broad knowledge base and healthy lifestyle habits. Position: Music Teacher
Reports to: Lead School Administrator

Minimum Qualifications Required:
Education: Minimum Bachelor's Degree.
Experience Required: Teaching experience preferred, but not required.
Certification Required: Valid teacher certification required or willingness to obtain certification.

Job Duties:

  1. Plan, prepare, and deliver standards-based, student-centered instruction that engages all students and provides academic growth (following the mission, beliefs and strategies of Athlos Academies 3 pillars of performance).
  2. Ensure student growth and achievement in accordance with grade level expectations.
  3. Differentiate instruction as needed to meet the academic, social, and emotional needs of all students.
  4. Model the Athlos culture by exemplifying the 3 Pillars: Prepared Mind, Healthy Body, and Performance Character (demonstrating 12 character traits, exemplifying a growth mindset and modeling a healthy lifestyle).
  5. Introduce students to a variety of music and its cultural importance.
  6. Familiarize students with the basic concepts of music such as notes, tempo, symphony, beats, compositions, chords, scales, rhythm, etc.
  7. Conduct school wide choir and band concerts.
  8. Instruct students on how to coordinate songs with other musical instruments.
  9. Conduct band lessons before or after school as scheduled.
  10. Teach students to read musical notes accurately.
  11. Acquaint students with different music genres such as jazz, classical, techno, pop, folk, etc.
  12. Foster a liking towards music and inculcate a passion for acquiring the expertise in playing an instrument.
  13. Have a good knowledge of all different types of music instruments, both theoretically and practically.
  14. Accurately track student attendance, student progress, behavioral concerns, and classroom events.
  15. Regularly and professionally communicate with parents/guardians and the community.
  16. Participate in regular professional development, the school's professional learning community and staff meetings to improve instruction.
  17. Work collaboratively and communicate professionally with school leadership and other staff members to maximize effective instructional activities and build positive school culture.
  18. Meet professional obligations by honoring schedules, deadlines, and all professional responsibilities.
  19. Demonstrate the standards for effective practices of teachers.
  20. Any other assigned duties as assigned.
