Position Title: Licensed Community Education Teacher (ABE), ESL and Writing
Primary Location: District Wide
Assignment Specifications: 37-40 hours/week; 2 evenings per week; August 19, 2024-June 13, 2025
Group Affiliation/Policy: Teachers
Classification: C-5-1
Hiring Range: $27.41-$32.73/hour
Exempt Status: Non-Exempt
 
Responsibilities: The Adult Basic Education, ESL Teacher, under the direction of the Director of Community Education, will teach ESL to students. The instructor will be responsible for keeping detailed testing and attendance records, and help students meet their respective educational goals.  Some programmatic work will be required as needed. This position will work closely with MSCS English faculty in a supporting role for pre-college and college level writing; will also teach some adult ESL classes.
 
Qualifications: Qualified candidates will hold, or be eligible to hold, a K-12 Teaching license issued by the Minnesota Professional Educator Licensing and Standards Board and/or will have a Master of Arts degree in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (MA TESOL). Experience teaching pre-college and college writing and working with the adult ESL population and previous experience working in Adult Basic Education (ABE) is preferred.
