At our elementary level, we provide comprehensive instruction in core subjects like math, science, English language arts, and social studies.  We provide instruction in Music K, 5, 6 and in Physical Education K-4 every day.  We provide instruction in Music 1-4, Art 2-6, and Physical Education 5-6 every other day.  We prioritize the holistic development of each child, offering dedicated counseling support and extracurricular programs to enrich their educational experience.

Essential Functions:

  1. Accept assignment as needed on a daily basis in grades K-12
  2. Develops and administers the school curriculum in alignment with district goals and objectives.
  3. Promotes a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small group instruction, fostering student learning.
  4. Creates lesson plans and instructional materials, translating them into engaging learning experiences to optimize available instructional time when needed.
  5. Conducts ongoing assessments of student learning, adapting instructional methods to individual student needs, including those with special requirement as needed.
  6. Instructs students in responsible citizenship and other subject matters, following applicable laws, administrative regulations, and school procedures.
  7. Continuously acquires professional knowledge by attending seminars, workshops, or professional meetings and conducts research to stay updated on current developments in education.
  8. Maintains an accurate system for record-keeping, grading, and reporting, following district procedures, notes left by the classroom teacher, and applicable laws.
  9. Encourages parental involvement in students’ education and ensures effective communication with students and parents.
  10. Establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom.
  11. Coordinates with other elementary professional staff members, evaluates curriculum, and actively participates in faculty meetings and committees.
  12. Selects and requisitions appropriate books, instructional aids, and supplies, maintaining inventory records if needed
  13. Supervises students in activities outside the classroom during the school day, including those involving school transportation.
  14. Administers standardized tests in accordance with district testing programs.
  15. If no teacher substitute positions are avaialbe on a particular day cover paraprofessional or other vacancies in the district
  16. Is flexible and adaptable.  Able to pivote when needed and make adjustments to maintain the normal operation of a classroom

Additional Duties: Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Principal and other central office administrators, as designated by the Superintendent.

Equipment: Uses standard office equipment such as personal computers, printers, copy and fax machines, and telephones.

Travel Requirements: Travels to school district buildings and professional meetings as required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of current teaching methods, educational pedagogy, and differentiated instruction based on student learning styles.
  • Familiarity with elementary school curriculum and concepts.
  • Understanding of data information systems, data analysis, and the formulation of action plans.
  • Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education and students.
  • Ability to use computer network systems and software applications as needed.
  • Strong organizational and coordination skills.
  • Effective communication skills with students and parents.
  • Commitment to self-evaluation for performance and professional growth.
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships.

Qualifications Profile:

  • Certification/License Preferred: MN State Certification as an Elementary or Secondary Teacher.
  • Minimum requirement: Short Call Substitute License 
  • Education: Bachelor’s from an accredited college or university in Education or related discipline applicable to the teaching assignment.
  • Experience: Successful prior teaching experience for the appropriate grade levels is a plus.
