The HOSA Advisor advises and supports student participants in the mission, organization and functions of the club as it seeks to promote career opportunities in health and to prepare students to successfully pursue a health career. The advisor will develop programs, manage the club budget and create activities which promote the mission of the club.

Job Summary:

  • Supervises and offers direction to club members and leadership so that students maintain their focus on the club’s mission.

  • Advocates on behalf of the club with faculty and the administration in order for students to gain credibility and respect in the school and in the community.

  • Offers assistance, feedback, encouragement, and affirmation to club leadership to ensure that students can fulfill the duties of the club

  • Advises officers and committees on the conduct of the activities; sign all activity request forms to signify approval and checks all arrangements for building use, chaperones, and other needs, to facilitate efficient operation of activities.

  • Encourage fundraising activities and manages budgets and accounts for any financial transactions of the students including intake of money from fundraisers, the deposit of monies into the student activities fund and approve expenditures in order to meet fiscal responsibilities.

  • Initiate competitive events, emphasizing good sportsmanship, while assisting students to evaluate their own progress.

  • Assist students in preparing leadership activities and competitive events and coordinate other forms of student recognition.

Qualifications:

  • 1. Bachelor’s degree, preferred licensed educator or equivalent.
  • 2. Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, staff, and the community.
  • 3. Ability to train, supervise, and give direction to others.
  • 4. Demonstrated organizational human relation skills.
  • 5. Interest in developing leadership skills in students
  • 6. Commitment to youth and the mission of the club.
