 Full Time – 8 hours per day; 235 days per year

You will engage with and support the school community and build relationships in culturally responsive ways, maintaining existing partnerships and establishing new ones to best serve students and families. 

 

YOUR IMPACT

  • You will lead the school community in achieving the goals of the school and district by valuing diversity, adapting to diversity and managing the dynamics of difference

  • You will serve as a culturally responsive instructional leader, guiding staff to grow their critical consciousness and supporting them as they honor the diverse knowledge, contributions and ways of engaging present in our community

  • You will maintain open communication and relationships between the school and families that leads to strong foundation of trust and collaboration

  • You will interpret and use school data to identify barriers inherent in the school system and to lead the school in continuous improvement and cultural proficiency

  • You will observe staff and give feedback, support growth, evaluate performance, manage hiring and, when necessary, discipline

  • You will oversee building’s staffing process, the school schedule and the school budget with a lens of cultural proficiency

 

NECESSARY KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

  • Ability to provide visionary and strategic leadership through a lens of cultural proficiency

  • Commitment to educational equity, including a commitment to addressing issues of systemic inequality

  • Strong foundational knowledge of culturally responsive learning and teaching

  • Knowledge and experience working with students and families in a diverse community, including deep collaboration with those who have been historically marginalized to create a welcoming and inclusive school environment

  • Superior interpersonal, organizational and public relations skills

  • Strong facilitation and consensus-building skills

  • Demonstrated leadership in school management and culturally responsive curriculum, instruction and staff development

  • Demonstrated excellence in written and oral communication

  • Demonstrated skills and experience in interpreting and using test scores and other school data to lead staff in school improvement efforts

  • Knowledge and ability to support and lead programs with rigorous content for both adults and students that match learners’ abilities, aspirations and growth areas

  • Desire and ability to help learners recognize the value of individual differences, achieve their definition of success and identify their future in a continually changing world

  • Previous experience as a high school principal preferred

 

REQUIRED LICENSURE:

  Current Minnesota Teaching License

  Current Minnesota Principal License
